Adé van Heerden, first princess at the Miss SA 2017 pageant, was crowned the new Miss South Africa at a ceremony at The Maslow Hotel in Sandton. Van Heerden took over the role from Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters, who was sensationally crowned Miss Universe over the weekend. Nel-Peters was just the second South African to win the prestigious title. Van Heerden, a qualified doctor, was also chasing international honours recently, having contested the Miss World pageant in China on November 18. The 29-year-old singer has admitted she finds it tough to switch off from the demands of her day-to-day life at night and, as a result, she gets markedly less sleep each evening than the average person. She shared: "I have a lot of trouble switching off. Even when I get home early, which means before 1am, I start binge-watching shows or documentaries, which I love. "I can't go straight to bed. As a matter of fact, I only sleep three or four hours a night." The 'Diamonds' singer regards the likes of Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey and Tina Turner to be among the biggest inspirations in her own life.

Controversial 'Idols SA' Season 13 runner-up Mthokozisi Ndaba has shared another statement, but this time it came from a fan. Ndaba, has made headline after headline since the musical competition's finale show on 19 November. First, he failed to attend the press conference after Cape Town's Paxton Fielies won the title. It later emerged that  Ndaba was receiving counselling to help him cope with the loss . Pictures of the alleged victim's bruised face and broken tooth went viral on social media as her friends posted that Ndaba was a “wanted man”. On Sunday, however, things really went south for the would-be star after news broke that he  allegedly assaulted a woman  in a Johannesburg flat over the weekend. Ndaba released a statement  on Tuesday explaining that he has returned to Johannesburg and is cooperating with police. He also asked his fans to "not attack the complainant on social media" and for everyone to "continue taking a stand

Chrissy Teigen has urged her followers to help her locate her misplaced pregnancy bra after she left it on a plane. The 31-year-old model - who has 19-month-old daughter Luna with her husband John Legend, with whom she is currently expecting her second child - has been on a search for her lost "mom bra" after she managed to leave it on a plane flying into Washington DC. Taking to Twitter to rally support for her mission to locate the missing item, she wrote: "If you are flying out of DC on virgin today, check under your seat for a very large mom bra. It's like a talk show giveaway! (sic)" Fans quickly came to her aid, with one male informing her he was boarding a flight which could be the same plane she had been on. He wrote: "Me: literally on a virgin flight leaving DC right now feeling a sense of relevance never before felt by man (sic)"
