Some artists performed for free at #FillUpFNB

In the lead up to what has become an annual event for Cassper Nyovest, his claims that pursuing the dream to fill up FNB Stadium had made him broke fuelled speculation about just how much it cost him to put the show together. Speaking to DJ Sbu during his breakfast show on Massiv Metro ahead of the show, Nyovest broke down just a few of the costs he had incurred in planning #FillUpFNB. Among those costs were the fee he had to put down to book the stadium for his preferred date, additional costs including insurance and venue security as well as a budget to book supporting acts and all that was before he even put together a marketing budget for the show. “This is what it kinda takes… You go to the stadium and you fight for a date, before anything. You fight for a date with Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates and then they say, ‘okay, here’s a date, we’re gonna need R900,000’ and you’re like ‘okay… there’s the R900,000 then after that there’s contracts of ‘okay, now if you damage ...

AKA still keen to perform at #FillUpFNBStadium

AKA. Picture: AKA/Twitter Outspoken rapper AKA said he is still keen to perform at Cassper Nyovest's #FillUpFNBStadium concert, despite their long-standing rivalry.  A feud that was reignited last week when AKA took to Twitter to say they he would perform at the concert to make some "racks" (money) off an event that Cassper has described as being " the biggest performance of his career ". Cassper's apparent response was a simple tweet. The rapper wrote: "Just buy a ticket to #FillUpFnbStadium broer..." Despite Cassper's cheeky response that soon trended as #JustBuyATicketBroer, AKA told TshisaLive that he would still perform at the concert if Cassper asked him, and the price was right. But AKA probably shouldn't hold his breath for a response from Cassper, as the muso has the support of fellow SA celebs, Police Minister Fikile Mbalula and a host of media appearances lined up to promote his 2 December concert.

Even rain couldn't stop Cassper's reign!

On Saturday, the Mafikeng-born rapper proved he was King of the Jungle, living up to his newly-acquired "Mufasa" tag.  A reported 68 000 tickets sold, and Nyovest responded with an electric performance. The stage was tailored to his Mufasa-themed party, with the two lions on each side of the stage, and the visuals were spot on. Despite the chilly wet weather, revelers flocked to the stadium, eager for their chance to be part of history. How Cassper shot for greatness with #FillUpFNBStadium

The stage consisted of two lions, one on each side, which swayed in the wind and their eyes lit up. Image: Kyle Zeeman When I first sat across from Cassper, it was a warm summer's day and the man was all smiles with the success of his latest hit Doc Shebeleza .  We chatted about a lot of things that day but the one thing that stood out was his determination to reach heights SA hip- hop had never achieved. Now, three and a half years later, as he prepared for the biggest night of his career there was a sense that he had achieved it. Certainly those around him in the industry thought so. Everyone from Oskido to L-Tido, DJ Sbu and Black...
