Update on Covid-19 (19th April 2020)

19 April 2020

As at today, the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in South Africa is 3158.
The total number of tests conducted to date is 114 711.

The provincial breakdown is as follows:

REPORTING OF CONFIRMED DEATHS
Today we regrettably report 2 more COVID-19 related deaths. Similar to yesterday, these are from KwaZulu-Natal and the Western Cape. This brings the total death toll to 54 today.

We convey our condolences to the families and also appreciate the committed health workers who were treating the deceased patients.

Kelly Khumalo stuns in all-white sexy number at launch

The 33-year-old singer and actress wore a beaded corset and hot pants combo to serenade guests at the Dorkay Rooftop in Joburg. The all-white outfit made quite an impression, especially as red balloons dotted the venue. SABC slapped with R20k fine after broadcasting #fillupthedome

The Broadcasting Complaints Commisson of South Africa (BCCSA)  has published a judgement that shows SABC1 has been slapped with a R20 000 fine, this after complaints were made of profane language used during the broadcast of Cassper Nyovest’s Fill Up The Dome concert in November. On Friday, the BCCSA stated on its website that the “Material [was] broadcast before the watershed period, [and] considered harmful to children”. “The Tribunal is thus compelled to state that the respondent failed to exercise the necessary precaution prior to the broadcast of #FillUpTheDome concert and thus contravened the provisions of the broadcasting code of conduct.” The watershed period is the period in which it is appropriate to broadcast programming aimed towards mature or adult audiences.
